On February 21 this year, the 17th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Islamic Republic of Iran (hereinafter - the IGC) was held in Tehran (Islamic Republic of Iran).

 A bilateral meeting between Mr. Ali Altynbayev and Mr. Alirez Moghaddasi took place within the framework of the IGC meeting. 

During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of issues related to the further development of customs cooperation, in particular, the expansion of the e-TIR project and its implementation along the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan–Iran route using the offshore section, mutual recognition of authorized economic operators, training and assistance in improving the skills of customs officials, etc.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that customs cooperation between the countries will continue to be built on a friendly basis, and the decisions taken will contribute to improving the effectiveness of comprehensive cooperation.

         Also, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Ali Altynbayev on behalf of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, President of the Customs Service of Iran Mr. Alireza Moghaddasi signed a Protocol on the exchange of preliminary information on goods and vehicles.

Conclusion of the Protocol will allow the customs authorities of the Parties to carry out a preliminary exchange of information to achieve the following objectives:

- acceleration of customs operations related to the placement of goods under the customs procedure in the customs authorities of the Parties' states;

- reducing the number of documents required for customs operations and customs procedures;

- minimizing the use of forms and methods of customs control of goods based on the analysis of information about goods using a risk management system.

After signing the Protocol, the customs authorities of the Parties will develop technical conditions for the exchange of information and start a pilot project.

In the future, the exchange of preliminary information will be carried out electronically online on an ongoing basis.
